Greetings from Germany!
I am currently writing this post while on the ICE (Inter City Express) train from Zürich headed to to Köln! The past couple days have been quite busy with travelling, and I am definitely enjoying all of the things I’ve gotten to see and do along the way1 🙂
After flying out of Edmonton, I had a 23hr layover in Montréal (Québec), so I chose to stay at a loft/hotel located right in the heart of Old Montréal! It was also only about a 2-3 minute walk from the Notre Dame Basilica, and plenty of nice restaurants and cafés were nearby which was super nice. Although I only spent a few hours in the city, I still think that my time was definitely well spent! I really enjoyed my stay at the loft, the staff were so friendly, and I enjoyed getting to rest in a very comfortable bed at the end of a long day of travelling. I also filmed a short video tour of the loft, which you can view below, along with a couple pictures. 🙂
After leaving Montréal, I had an overnight flight to Zürich, which went by really slow because I was unable to fall sleep on the plane for some reason… But once I got there I got a sudden burst of energy because I was so excited to be back in my former Swiss city!! (I lived in Zürich from January-April 2014). During the day I went back to some of my favourite places, including the Altstadt, hiking up Üetliberg Mountain, I had lunch right alongside Lake Zürich, and I also walked around my old neighbourhood near Hardbrücke before catching the train to Germany (which I am currently on as I write this!)
So, in just a couple hours I will finally arrive back in Köln!! I’m so looking forward to catching up with my friends in the city, spending time with my host family, and of course- more travelling!! I ended up adding a few more destinations to my itinerary, so I will now also be going to Luxembourg, Vienna, and Dresden! I also am going to try and see if I can find time to join my friend on a trip to Amsterdam to see the world famous tulip fields, (which may not actually be possible because of time constraints, but I have my fingers crossed that I can somehow make it work!!)
There are lots of exciting things ahead, so definitely stay tuned for more posts very soon 🙂 Thank you very much for reading! 🙂
