It has been quite awhile ago since I last posted here! The last few months have been super busy with school, exams, etc. so I’m really excited to be almost finished this winter semester (less than 2 months now!) For this blog post I decided to write about my upcoming Europe travel plans for when the semester ends. 🙂
- May 3: Montreal, Quebec [1 day layover]
This will be my second time in Montreal, since I was about 10 or 11! While in the city I’m planning to visit the Notre Dame Basilica, Old Town, Montreal Botanical Gardens, and have dinner somewhere downtown. I’m planning to book a loft apartment for the night through AirBnB which is located right in the Old Town, so that should be super exciting!
- May 5: Arrive in Zürich, Switzerland
Back to one of my second homes! 😀 I’ll only be spending the day there, so I plan on doing as many of my favourite things there as I can, such as hiking up Üetliberg Mountain, walking through Zürich Altstadt, having a picnic by the lake, and visiting the Schiffbau Schauspielhaus (right where I used to live)!
- May 6: Arrive in Cologne, Germany!!
By far my favourite place in the world.
- TBD: Berlin, Germany [5 Days]
I’ll be going to Berlin with my host family because Sara will be having a concert there! This will be my 4th time in the city, and if I have enough time I’m going to try and see the Brandenburg Gate again, Checkpoint Charlie, the East Side Gallery (Berlin Wall) again, The Jewish Memorial, etc.
- TBD: Vienna, Austria [2 Days]
As of right now I am not sure exactly when I’ll be able to fit this into my schedule, but I’m crossing my fingers!!! Some of the things I hope to do/see in Vienna would be to go to the Naschmarkt (a giant open air flea market), walk through Stadtpark, take a ride on the Riesenrad (a 19th century ferris wheel), visit Mozart’s Residence (a museum), go to the State Opera House, Austrian National Library, the Rathaus (City Hall), and more!
- June 16: Paris, France [1 Day]
Some of the things on my must do list in Paris are: seeing the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre, Arc De Triomphe, Champs-Élysées, Love Locks at the River Seine, and the Luxemburg Gardens. 🙂
- June 17: London, England [1 Day]
This will be my 4th time in London, so I’ve seen most of the popular sights quite a few times already. I’ve been thinking about maybe going on a tour of the Harry Potter Studios, or seeing the Tower of London, The Globe Theatre, and possibly Camden Town. However.. knowing myself, I don’t think I could go back to London without also going back to see Big Ben or the Tower Bridge again! 😛
- June 18: Gdansk, Poland [2 Days]
This will be a really special place to visit, because this is where my Oma was born (Gdansk was originally part of Germany before WWII). I don’t have many solid plans yet, but I booked my hotel the other day so I know I will be staying right in the city centre. Most likely I will just walk around and explore! 🙂
- June 20: Dortmund, Germany [1/2 Day]
I’ll only be in Dortmund for a couple hours, so I plan on just having lunch somewhere near the central train station, and maybe exploring a bit of the city depending on how much time I have.
- June 20: Cologne, Germany
My last day in Germany! 😦
- June 21: Fly back to Zürich, Switzerland
I’ll arrive in the morning and will have the whole day to just relax or maybe visit some friends before getting up for my flight home the next day.
- June 22: Fly to Frankfurt, Toronto, and then Edmonton!
Back to Reality….. 😛 Although I’m sure I will be glad to be home because then I’ll get to see my boyfriend again after a long 6 weeks away! We’ve already talked about going to Banff & Moraine Lake, and hopefully a trip Vancouver over the summer, so that will be super fun to look forward to! 🙂
**Also, another thing I am planning to do while in Europe will be recording travel vlogs/diaries for all of the places I go to! I think this would be a way better way to document my adventures this time rather than only pictures, so definitely be sure to check back in May & June!! 🙂
Thanks so much for reading! 🙂
