On Monday morning I returned to Jakarta, Indonesiaย from an amazing two-week trip to Bali with my host family! Literally every single day there was incredible.. I got to see so many beautiful places, try all kinds of delicious food, watch manyย gorgeous sunsets, and go on plenty of fun excursions!
Bali is famous for its beaches, and I was lucky enoughย to visit quite a few (over 8) !! Oneย of my favourites wasย Echo Beach, where some friends and I had lunch and watched people surf on some of the biggest waves I have ever seen. Another wasย at Finn’s Beach Club, where we wentย snorkelling and sawย hundreds of fish, and we stayed until the night for theย bonfire. It was definitely a niceย way to end theย day. ๐

Another thing I realizedย about Bali is that it seems that literally in any direction you look, there are so many temples everywhere!! Bali is a very spiritual place, and the majority of the local population in Hindu. Pretty much everywhere you walk, there are always “offerings” for the Gods that are left by many people. I went to a temple with my host family called Tirta Empul, which is over 1000 years old, and it was very interesting to visit. This place is said to hold a “Holy Spring,” where hundreds of people visit daily to bathe in this water, and also to pray. Another Temple I went to with a couple of friends was Tanah Lot. During high tides it is completely surrounded by water, and our view of itย during sunset was so magical because we were watching it from the top of a nearby cliff which directly overlooked it!

Some other cool things during the trip was getting to go to WaterBom WaterPark (Rated #1 in Asia, 5th WorldWide), where I went on every single slide! While we we there we also got to stay in a private VIP cabana, it was very awesome! After the water park, we went for dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant (a restaurant themed from the movie Forrest Gump) and it was very nice! I ended up watching the movie for the first time the day after, so now I understand a lot more of the popular references. ๐
Another amazing thing was getting to go on a safari at Bali Safari Park, where we saw Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, etc. At lunch we ate at a restaurant that had glass walls right next to where the lions were, it was pretty cool getting to see them so up close! We also went to a 3D art museum where we got to pose for photos in front of all sorts of awesome backdrops, went to an indoor trampoline park, saw beautiful views of the rice fields, and went to the Bali Bird Park!
Thanks so much for reading. ๐ Be sure to stay tuned for more entries about my upcoming adventures in Asia… !
