Happy New Years from Mexico!
Right now I am writing this post from my good friend Aranza’s house in Guadalajara, Mexico! (who I met while Au Pairing in Germany last year)! She and her family invited me to come and spent part of the holidays with them here, and it has been such an amazing time! It’s super awesome having friends around the world, because without meeting her, I never would have had the opportunity to experience all of the authentic culture that I have gotten to see in this incredible country!
This trip has gone by super fast, and I can’t believe that tomorrow I will be already heading home to Vancouver… But I know I will definitely come back again someday though!! 🙂
For the first few days, we spent New Years in Puerto Vallarta, and our hotel was right on the beach!! It was incredible getting to swim in the ocean and enjoy the +30 degree Celsius weather everyday… 😀
One of my favourite experiences on this trip was going on an excursion to see the Marietas island! This is located just off the coast of Puerto Vallarta, which contains a giant crater and a small beach within the island.. It was so unreal! We also got to go there on a private boat and we saw several whales and went snorkelling 🙂
After spending a few days in Puerto Vallarta, we headed back to Guadalajara.. Where I got to explore the city centre, see the amazing art and cultural district called “tlaquepaque,” see the ancient circular pyramids called Guachimontones (which date back thousands of years, even before the Mayan civilization), and much more!
