Au Pair Europe Germany

More Travelling & More Saying Goodbye to New Friends

Hallo Leute. ❤

It’s been a little while since my last post, so I figured I’d post another update now before things get crazy busy again. I just got back from an amazing time in Berlin/Kiel/Hamburg…. and in less than two weeks I will be off travelling with my host family again… We’ll be going to Frankfurt, Berlin for the third time, back to Köln, and then a couple days after that we’ll be back in Northern Germany (in Kiel) taking an overnight ferry to Gothenburg [Sweden] for Christmas! I also was able to squeeze in plans for New Years with some of my Au Pair friends, and we will be celebrating the start of 2014 in Strasbourg, France!! As exciting as this all sounds, I know that it is going to be super hectic and there will be so much to get done in preparation for our temporary move to Zürich at the start of January. I just hope that everything goes by with as little stress as possible! I mean, the most important part of this experience is for me to enjoy it and make the most of each moment… so I will have to keep that in mind if things start to feel pretty overwhelming. (which I’m sure is bound to happen!)

That being said, a part of me actually feels kind of reluctant about moving around so often though. I think it’s because when I get to meet such amazing people in the places I visit, it’s kind of sad when I say goodbye, and I don’t know if or when I will get to see them again. And sometimes it’s really hard to deal with having to constantly readjust to new surroundings. One of my friends sent me a quote saying:

“You will never be completely home again, because part of your heart will always be somewhere else. That is the price you pay for the richness of knowing and loving people in more than one place.”

..And this couldn’t be more true. I have met so many incredible people over the past couple months, and a huge part of me wishes I could just live in Germany forever. Of course I know that’s not the most realistic thing to say… but I know in my heart that I will always consider this place my second home. I am actually thinking about maybe trying to extend my stay here a little bit longer than originally planned, but there’s still quite a bit I would have to figure out. So right now it’s kind of up in the air! Also lately I’ve been trying to keep up with practicing German, but it’s a lot more difficult than I anticipated… but as long as I continue to work on it, I’m sure that in time it will all eventually pay off!! (at least I hope so..)

Haha, so anyways that’s where I’m at for right now. Thanks so much for reading this, and I hope everyone enjoys their morning/day/evening!

❤ Jackie
